Veolia Completes Process Evaluation for Verde Potash
Evaporation and crystallization testing to advance the Cerrado Verde project
Plainfield, Ill, USA, May 24, 2013 - Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies has completed a process evaluation for Verde Potash to support the development of the its Cerrado Verde project in Minas Gerais, Brazil for production of potassium chloride (KCl) fertilizer. Evaporation and crystallization was selected as the technology for purification and production towards chemical-grade fertilizer.
Utilizing Veolia's Research and Development Center for HPD® evaporation and crystallization technologies, characterization of the feedstock and design parameters were confirmed based on output from upstream processes. This testing provided Verde with the validation of the process design and the ability to move forward with the project at any scale.
Verde Potash chose Veolia due to its experience in the fertilizer industry, notably with significant project awards in the industry in Europe as well as North and South America over the past year.
Verde Potash (NPK:TSX), a Brazilian fertilizer development company, is focused on advancing the Cerrado Verde project located in the heart of Brazil's largest agriculture market. Cerrado Verde is the source of a potash-rich deposit from which the Company intends to produce potassium chloride (KCl). In addition, the Company is developing its Calcario limestone project, limestone being a key raw material in the production of KCl.
